But what do you mean that for?! This a nice one! =B
You all know Ridley of the Metroid games right? Well, maybe all you know of him is whatever you've seen in Super Smash Bros games and on the forums with "RIDLEY'S TOO BIG!!" (The irony about this is that in fact, Sakurai admitted that he wanted to include Ridley into the playable roster, but because of how Ridley behaves in terms of how you fought him in the games, it would be "difficult" to implement standard fighting manuevers into the game [although they probably could have made it work], thus the whole "him too big!" argument is null, especially when one considers Olimar, because that spaceman is only as big as a GCN memory card... Yup, we've got ourselves a character that technically is too small in the roster...)
So what's this stamp for besides giving Ridley fans a plaything for their journals? We'll he's the first ever purple dragon of course! First one to blow up a planet, stir up trouble, and have some serious attitude problems, yet he still gets his butt beat by that one blonde woman who's only known for having a big butt and making things go explody with some kind of arm canon... I don't know who she is...
I don't get why they included Olimar. Yes, the Pikmin games are very good, but Olimar doesn't even looks like he could fight ! Especially in the Subspace Emissary cutscene, where all his Pikmins were wiped out by a Giant R.O.B, then Captain Falcon is coming with the famous Falcon Punch... This cutscene shows the big difference between the two characters !

Ridley was intended to be in the SSBB roster ? That's something I didn't know. Mewtwo was considered to be in the roster as well, but it was scrapped
The reason why is simple; the fans wanted it. It's also why we have Wulf instead of Krystal, Ridley isn't in the roster, a good portion of Mother things are missing and have misinformation, Mario and crew got cut backs, Marth speaks Japanese (although he has had an English debut, finally), Pokemon is 90% of the anime and not actual games, most of the characters still have the same moves, and a ton of other things. The thing is though, most of these fans who demanded these things didn't realize just how bad they were. Plus, because Miyamoto's big franchises (Mario and Zelda) were getting the shaft so Olimar was thrown into the mix.
Yes, they were planning on putting him into the game, but my guess is that the SSE was far more important that the bulk of the game.
